Lover of Vamp Tales, Disappointed

I am a huge Vamp Tale lover. Right now one of my favorite authors is Charlaine Harris. I think my main reason for loving her so much is that her world seems believeable. It's exactly what I picture life would be like if the otherworldly creatures actually existed.

One of the things that make me not like a Vamp Tale or any other paranormal tale is if the being is sexy and dangerous, but for some reason the author has decided that the only kind of sex the vamp can have on a regular basis is Vamp Sex(mind sex only). I read a story like that recently and if it would not have been for that little detail, I would have loved the story a lot more.

The story was written by Rebecca York. I will not give a title, because some of you may love her books. For me it was the first and I am thinking about reading another by her to see if it will be better, but for now I won't. Now don't get me wrong the Vamp in question did eventually have sex with his lady love the physical way, but in order for him to get a hard on he had to drink a lot of blood from other people in order to get an erection. The heroine of the piece eventually made a compromise with him. Would he take the little blue pill every once in a while so that can have real sex, and the rest of the time they can do his way.

All in all though the story was pretty darn good. It's just that I expect hot romance to have hot physical sex.

If you have read something similar by the same or another author let me know. Pleasssssssse.

New Show on Fox: Glee

I don't know if any of you have heard of Fox's new show, but it is hilarious. I went to their website and got a description of the show for those of you who don't know what it is. I had the honor of watching the Pilot episode. I just got around to it tonight, but it actually came on last night(09/02/09). The acting, singing, dancing was all superb. I found myself either laughing and smiling at strange moments. Every cast member compliments the other and the show has some of the best music that I have ever heard. All of this from the pilot episode, so you know that the rest is going to be great. I hope you all give it a chance so that you can see what I am talking about. The series premiere is Weds., Sept., 8. For those of you who missed the pilot check your local listings(Fox) to see if they show an encore performance before the premiere date. If not check online at www.fox.com

From Ryan Murphy, the creator of "Nip/Tuck," comes GLEE, a new comedy for the aspiring underdog in all of us.

The series follows an optimistic teacher, WILL SCHUESTER (Matthew Morrison), who - against all odds and a malicious cheerleading coach - attempts to save McKinley High's Glee Club from obscurity, while helping a group of aspiring underdogs realize their true star potential. It's a tall order when the brightest stars of the group include KURT (Chris Colfer), a soprano who hits a high note in fashion; MERCEDES (Amber Riley), a larger-than-life diva with a voice to match; ARTIE (Kevin McHale), a geeky guitarist who rocks and rolls; and TINA (Jenna Ushkowitz), a punk rocker who hides behind her stutter and blue hair extensions.

alt Will is determined to do whatever it takes to make Glee great again. alt

Will's only hope lies with two true talents: RACHEL BERRY (Lea Michele), a self-proclaimed star who is convinced that MySpace and show choir and are her tickets to fame; and FINN HUDSON (Cory Monteith), the popular high school quarterback with movie star looks who must protect his reputation from his holier-than-thou girlfriend and "Cheerios" head cheerleader, QUINN (Dianna Agron), and his arrogant football teammate, PUCK (Mark Salling).

alt Everyone else around him thinks he's nuts. He's out to prove them all wrong. alt

Will is determined to do whatever it takes to make Glee great again, but his only ally is fellow teacher and germaphobe EMMA PILLSBURY (Jayma Mays). Everyone else around him thinks he's nuts - from his tough-as-nails wife TERRI SCHUESTER (Jessalyn Gilsig) to McKinley's scheming cheerleading coach SUE SYLVESTER (Jane Lynch) - but he's out to prove them wrong.

Featuring a soundtrack of hit songs from past and present, GLEE is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are co-creators of the series. Murphy, Falchuk and Dante Di Loreto serve as executive producers, while Ian Brennan serves as co-executive producer. Murphy directed the pilot.

RITA Awards; Contemporary Romance Single Title

This is one of my favorite categories. I love contemporary romance novels and there is at least a couple of the authors that I have read and some I have not, but since they made the list I will now being giving them a try also. The best thing is the author that won is one of my favorites, Rachel Gibson. Not Another Bad Date was a really great read, it was funny and romantic(duh). I could not put it down. The thing is if you decide to read it and if you are anything like me this will matter: it is part of a series, but could be read alone. The series is about a group of friends that goes through different relationship ups and downs that eventually find love in unexpected and unwanted (at first) places. The author whose books I have enjoyed from this list is Susan Mallery. I haven't gotten around to reading sweet talk yet, but I have been working my way up to up with some of her other outstanding books. Someone who I feel should have an honorable mention: Brenda Jackson, Lisa Kleypas, Carly Phillips, Lori Foster, and Susan Andersen

Must See Movie

Ok, I know it has been a while since I have posted anything, but I was sitting here watching a movie on STARZ and thought that I should let you guys know about it.

The House Bunny

Starring Anna Faris and Colin Hanks

The movie starts with Shelley(A.Faris) getting ready to turn 27. Her wish is to become Ms. November, but the morning after her B'day party she gets a letter telling her she is evicted from the P'boy Mansion.

Well from there it is nothing but laughs. This is my favorite movie so far with A.Farris in it. I loved everything about the film. The fact that her main reason living and loving it at the P'boy Mansion is because of the bond she shares with the other bunnies. When that is taken away she doesn't know what to do at first, but she overcomes the obstacles in her way, by becoming a House Mother to a sorority that greatly needed her help just as much as she eventually needed them.

Anyway, I tend to babble, but all of that being said check this movie out when ever you are looking for a laugh and to see true sisterhood at work.

In my book this movie deserves an A because it has everything a good comedy should with a little bit of romance thrown in(that's where Colin Hanks comes in at) mix.

Favorite Show Cancellations

Well, I am truly pissed. The CW has managed to not only manage to cancel one, but two of my favorite shows. First, The Game. I don't know about you but I was disappointed about this, but I would have still watched the network because of the other shows that I like on there. Second and last, Privileged. They did not even give this show a fair chance. I loved that show. I don't understand why good shows get the shake. The also cancelled a couple of others, but I don't watch those but for those of you that do here they go. The Reaper and Everybody Hates Chris. It's really sad, so even though there are two other shows that I watch on that network I will not be watching them again. Sad, but true.

I will post again to list the cancellation of other favs and not to favs.

To be continued.....

The Women's Murder Club

James Patterson and Maxine Paetro has done it again. The eighth Women's Murder Club book is just as good as the first seven. I haven't sat down and devoured a book so quickly since I read the first book in the series (1st to Die). It is an absolutely wonderful book. The new book of course is The 8th Confession. I said of course because if you are a fan of the series you know that all eight books have a number in the title starting with 1 thru 8. Now before I give you a rundown of the book, just from the book jacket of course, I am going to try to list the previous titles for those of you have have never read the series.

1st to Die (with Andrew Gross)
2nd Chance (with Andrew Gross)
3rd Degree (with Maxine Paetro)
4th of July (with Maxine Paetro)
The 5th Horseman (with Maxine Paetro)
The 6th Target (with Maxine Paetro)
7th Heaven (with Maxine Paetro)

Instead of going by the book jacket, I will tell that this book is filled with twist and turns and it will leave you guessing until the end. If you are a fan of mystery you will love this book. Go out and buy or check it out at the library it is definitely worth the time and effort.

True Blood

It's been a while, but I am back. And guess what my favorite show is coming soon also. True Blood is on its way back and there is a countdown on this page or somewhere on this blog. Anyway, for those of you who love the show you can keep up with the number of nights and hours, etc.. that we have left to see Season 2 of True Blood. For those of you who have never seen or heard of the show Season 1 is out or about to be released on DVD. To go along with watching the show you all should also read Charlaine Harris's books that the series is based on. I have had the pleasure of reading them all and I have to say she is a wonderful writer. The plus side to all of this is that the show doesn't veer far from the book and its wonderful to see your favorite scenes from the book acted out on television. Plus, you get to see who they picked to play your favorite characters. That leads to debating rather or not he picked the right people for the roles. Anyway, watch the show and read the book you will not be disappointed.

Watch One Tree Hill

I came home from work tonight and finally had a chance to view Monday, April 20th’s episode of One Tree Hill, and I have to say that show keeps getting better. I have always loved it, but with every episode I fall harder. I don’t know if any of you watch or not, but if you don’t you should. It’s on Monday night on The CW network (check local listings). Please don’t think that it is to young for you, because I am a 29 year old and I have watched from the first and they aged the character a few years after they graduated from high school. Every week I find myself smiling and crying all in one hour. It will make you feel so many different emotions, but after the show is over you will be satisfied and looking and looking for more. And guys you can watch too, they do have the sports (basketball).

So any newbies give it a try let me know what you think and if you are already a fan share some of your favorite moments, characters, or whatever you like.

Hannah Montana: The Movie

For any of you who have children that love Hannah Montana you have got to take them to see this movie. I actually enjoyed it myself. It was really entertaining with very good music. I laughed and even cried a little and believe it are not my husband also enjoyed. We are going to get our girls the soundtrack this weekend. Miley and the rest of the cast did an outstanding job. Kudos to them.

Is anyone watching American Idol? If not you do not know what you are missing. Every years I say I am not going to watch, but I just get sucked in. Simon does it for me every time, which I think that I have mentioned before. Another show that I think is worth watching, if it comes back next season, is Privileged, which I have probably already mentioned.

Anyway, the Author that I want to Recommend if you like romance with hunky men is Susan Andersen. Pick up any book by her and you will definitely be satisfied.

Oh, before I forget go out and see Madea goes to Jail. Anything that has Tyler Perry's name on is a hit.

Well, that's all for now, see ya.

Thursday, February 26, 2009

I haven't seen any new movies yet, but I would like to recommend an oldie, but goodie. Fiddler on the Roof is a wonderful movie and the music is fantastic. I watched it today for the first time ever and I am now wondering what took me so long. If you haven't seen it yet, you must. It is a must see.

On the book front I just finished reading, Just Desserts by Barbara Bretton. Guys I am telling you this woman is amazing. Before I read this, I read Casting Spells, which was also good, and I must say that she keeps getting better. (Casting Spells came after Just Desserts). Now I am making it my mission to read every book that she has written to date. I hope they are all as good as the two I have already read. If you have ever read anything by this author let me know what you thought, if not start with one of the two I mentioned above.

Has anyone been watching American Idol? Well, you should. That show gets better every season. I am glad that they added a judge, but all I really need is Simon. He says almost exactly what I am thinking while I watch. Plus the way he says it is more entertaining than anything I would have actually come up with on my own. Gotta love Simon. The best judge ever.

Anyway, guys I am currently reading Romantic Times BookReviews Magazine. When I am done I will make a list of books that I thought sounded interesting and that I am planning on reading. I have a list that dates back to Feb. or Mar. 2008 of books that I want to read. I am going to share that list with you a little at a time and by genres.

See ya next time.

Great Movie

I went to see
He's Just Not That Into You
at the theater on opening weekend. My caption or title says it all. It was definitely a great movie. It was funny and romantic, my two favorite things. The thing I like the best is that you and relate to the characters. You will be sitting there comparing them to you and your friends. Please, Please Please go see this movie. It's a definite MUST SEE.

There is so much I want to say about it, but I am afraid that I will say to much. I will say ladies, we definitely act like the people in this movie. At one point or another we have all been there and done that. When you see it you will know what I mean. Guys, the same goes for you too.

Come back and let me know what you think. I am so excited for you who are just now going to get the chance to see it.

For those of you who love action go see
Taken
, it is also a great movie. Liam Neeson did a wonderful job. He kicked some butt.

Kresley Cole

Happy New Year

I know its been a while since the last time I posted anything, so I decided it was time for me to say Happy New Year and I hope that everyone sticks to their resolutions. I'm saying that but, I didn't even make any this year, so I guess I will now.
1. Quit Smoking: Don't all smokers or at least most make this resolution every year. Well I promise to give it a try. Wish me luck.
2. Start Working Out: I know this is another big one, but I really have plans to start doing this. I will be leaving my twenties behind this year, so it is time for me to start to live my life better in a healthy kinda way.
3. Have a complete physical, get an eye exam, get a dental exam, have annual with gyn: I miss the annual last year and I have never missed one before, the rest of them is just something I feel I need also.

OK that's it as far as my resolutions go. I wonder what you all have decided to do this year, what are your resolutions?

Now on to the reason I have this blog. On the book front one of my favorite authors has a new book that has just been released. Kiss of a Demon King by Kresley Cole. Now I fell in love with her while reading The MacCarrick Brothers trilogy. She is an exceptional historical and paranormal romance author. Her new book is part of her The Immortals After Dark series.

On the TV front, I want to recommend something that I may have already recommended, but I love the show and I want people to start watching so that it will stay on for a while. The show in question is Privileged on the CW in my area that channel 21. Find it and give it a shot and let me know if you enjoyed it. Right now it comes on Tuesday nights at 9/8c.

On the movie front, I am recommending The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Please let me know what you think. I have been discussing this movie with a few people and none of them seems to really like it. The say beautiful makeup and scenery, but bad acting on Brad Pitts part. I think that it is an exceptional movie period. I love the job that everyone did it is simply fantastic, but that is only my opinion. Let me know what you think.
